Class Description

Come let your imagination and your creativity take flight, in a class where just about anything could be a potential prop. After all one man’s junk is another man’s prop. We will be turning ordinary and not so ordinary stuff into “Theatrical Properties”. Some of our fabulous fakes will be used as props for CYT productions.

Class Objectives:
  • Understand and describe the basic differences between the elements of sets, costumes and props.
  • Understand the difference between hand props, set props, and set dressing.
  • Understand the process of creating props, from reading the script to being used on stage.
  • Have a basic understanding of how to set up a props table for a theater production.
  • Understand how to design and create simple props for stage.
  • Have a basic understanding of painting and craft techniques associated with theater props.
