Description

This course is designed to introduce teenage students to the basics of acting while giving them an overview of
the stage experience and preparing them to approach acting with a respectful and confident attitude. This class introduces the essential building blocks of performance, including vocal projection, stage movement, character expression, and storytelling. Through engaging exercises and interactive scene work, students will develop confidence, creativity, and teamwork while learning how to bring a character to life on stage.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
  • Define basic theater terms.
  • Demonstrate an appreciation for the art of acting.
  • Understand their important place in the CYT community.
  • Perform a role in a two- or three-person scene in front of an audience.

Tadd Swart

Tadd was born in California, and moved to Louisiana in 2008, where he lives with his wife, Elaine, and their two children, Asher and Primrose. His love for theater started with skits while on mission trips but grew in high school, where some of his favorite roles were the Bishop and Enjolras (Les Miserables), and Samuel (Pirates of Penzance). He has been a teacher in classical schools for 18 years.
