Description

This one is for all the budding choreographers!
This course will be designed to help teens see if they have what it takes to choreograph.  Students will be equipped with essential skills needed to become a future choreographer.

Students will learn:
  • what elements are needed to make an entertaining musical theatre number and
  • how to teach basic dance skills needed for those numbers

This class will be combined with a youth dance class. Teens will choreograph and youth will learn the choreography that will create a magical musical theatre number for our showcase.  This session's theme is BELONGING and Choreographers are a huge part of helping actors feel a sense of belonging in each Musical they work on.

Teacher:

Hope Carline

I am an elementary school teacher with 3 beautiful children who were all once involved in theatre. I was involved in theatre as a singer and dancer through high school and college. After college, I began teaching dance, primarily jazz and musical theatre, although I also taught ballet and tap for 11 years. This is when my love for musical theatre grew even more and I began choreographing and performing in musicals again which is what I have been doing for the last 5 years. I have choreographed Tuck Everlasting, Seussical, Wizard of Oz, Matilda, Spongebob, Percy Jackson, Newsies, Oklahoma, and Cats along with other exciting musicals. This show has been a blast to share with these amazing talented kiddos, I can not wait for you to see them shine.
